Is Santee's "Smart Growth" plan working?

I have only been a resident of Santee since 1995, but since then I have seen a tremendous positive change in the landscape. The Mayor and City Council members have done a wonderful job of bringing in not only some big name businesses, but the right ones to fit our community. This combined with the high standards set by the council for new housing will make Santee as the Mayor so often says "The La Jolla of East County". Thats just my opinion, what do you think?

I want to give a shout out to all of you that helped to re-elect me to another four year term. A special thanks to Rob for all of his support.

Four more years. Lets roll up our sleeves and get back to work.

I am dismayed at the destruction of our Rattlesnake Mountain. I am still wondering if anyone has alerted Gillispie Field of these expensive homes being built on the mountain top. Will the realtor tell the prospective buyers that they are under the flight path of not only helicopters from Miramar but planes from Gillispie? Also they will have right under their nose the cloverleaf of the ending of route 52 as it blends into Route 67. Nice viewing for buyers of expensive homes.

To answer part of your question for you, Yes any agent would be required to give the buyer of one of these homes a disclosure for the potential noise nuisance that they would have to deal with being that close to Gillespie Air Field. Same goes for the road noise of the 52 fwy just below the development.

thanks Rob. My main concern was that I did not want law suits flying right and left like the buyers of homes in the Point Loma area did. But I wonder about the noise and emissions from all the cars that will be wafting their way. This clover leaf will look like the one down in Mission Valley.

La Jolla of the East. You must be kidding. Where are the major department stores? Oh yes. They are in Parkway Plaza, Mission Valley and
fashion Valley. We certainly do not have major high class restaurants either. I am only one among many that think our Town Center mall is laughable. Certainly not shopper friendly. Because of the construction of R52 Santee has lost a large industrial base. Where in Santee did they find a industral park to move and start over? Indusrial centers filled with fluorishing business are the backbone of any city. So far all I have seen is condimimums and houses going up. increased traffic on major streets is a daily occurrance. To me R52 is not and will not be the answer to Santee prayers of less traffic on major streets. People from Lakeside and further East that now use ElNopal and East Woodside as a way to get to R52 will not go the increased mileage to the Magnolia/Prospect on ramps just to pass by where they would have entered R52 earlier.

The latest I have seen from CalTrans is that R52 will not be completed until 2015. Sky Ranch is having difficulty in selling homes. California meltdown in home sales seems to be effecting this project.
hopefully plans have been made to have a firestation located in this development. It is a requirement for Fanita Ranch and this location deems having a fire station also. That is some steep for fire engines to get up their fast. Where is the ramp from Sky Ranch onto R52 planned. I understood that was one of the requirements for building up there.
